  • Alaska Island Community Services, 907-874-2373
  • American Cancer Society, Great West Division, Anchorage, AK- has patient support programs to help with transportation needs and lodging in the Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Kenai, and Wasilla/Palmer areas.
  • Cancer Connection-Juneau based charitable organization which provides information and resources, limited grants to help cover expenses related to treatment outside of Southeast Alaska. Toll Free: 866-376-2273
  • Petersburg Cancer Support Group
  • First City Council on Cancer-Ketchikan based-all volunteer organization dedicated to reducing the impact of cancer related problems. Assistance for medical treatment, travel or for screen exams is available up to $2,000 for the initial award and $1,500 for subsequent requests. 907-225-4104
  • Medicaid-if you do not have health insurance and need financial assistance to handle the costs related to cancer therapy, applications for State of Alaska public assistance, including Medicaid, are available at the courthouse.
  • Petersburg Medical Center Foundation, Beat the Odds-provides local support to residents in need of assistance for uninsured medical equipment rentals at Petersburg Rexall.  For more information contact Cate Kawolski, at Petersburg Rexall Drug, 772-3265.  Beat the Odds also provides chore services to local residents in need of help during their treatments.  Please contact Jennifer Bryner, at Petesburg Medical Center, for more information.
  • Petersburg Mental Health Services- Petersburg based nonprofit community based behavioral health organization.  
  • True North Counseling &Consultation, LLC- Petersburb based counseling and consultation that provides services to adults, couples, adolescents, children, families, and organizations.  Alternative fees to those in need and specifically they provide a limited number of sessions free with the support from Beat the Odds.  907-650-7292 or www.foundtruenorth.com
  • Wrangell Medical Center Cancer Care-has a travel assistance program for cancer patients that provides reimbursement up to $1,000 per year for expenses including airfare, lodging, taxes, rental cards, or other expenses related to travel outside of their community for cancer treatment. 907-874-7000
